R Radical Records

R Radical Records was a cool label done by the singer of M.D.C. back in the eighties. As you can see by this ad, they put out classic records by bands like Reagan Youth, M.D.C., B.G.K., and D.R.I.. A lot of bands with initials. Most importantly they put out the P.E.A.C.E. compilation, which is easily the best hardcore compilation ever. There are so many good bands on this one I can’t even begin to figure out who is the best or even a top 5/10/etc. A lot of my introduction to hardcore from outside North America was from this record.

It is pretty frustrating seeing how politically involved people and bands like these were back then. If a band like MDC or Reagan Youth came along today they’d probably be called “faggots” or unpatriotic. Go hardcore!

I don’t know a lot about later records by DOA or The Dicks. I do know their early records are classics. It is too bad Kill From The Heart is out of print.
