Rest In Pieces-My Rage
The first Rest In Pieces album has always been one of favorite NYHC records. A lot of heavy songs, great mosh parts, but also excellent lyrics. In the sometimes way too conservative NYHC scene, My Rage has not only an anti-religion song (the incredibly named Toys R Us) but also the pro choice Army Of God. Pretty left wing for a band also spotted live sporting Skrewdriver shirts. The music itself is similar to some of the other 1987 era bands like Sick Of It All and Breakdown. The raw recording really helps these songs out a lot too. This is just a classic all around.

Rest In Pieces
I remember picking up the reissue CD of the Rest In Pieces My Rage LP back in the famed summer of 1997. My Rage is one of my favorite NYHC records and I was really curious to hear their previous ep on Incas Records. I ended up making a CDR of just My Rage to listen to instead. It just isn’t that good. Average NYHC at best. But My Rage is a classic…where else can you turn to have abortion, Santa Claus, prostitution, and punks being whack on the same record?
I’m still surprised they haven’t played a reunion in recent years. During the spring of 1998 word got around they were considering it, and then late in the summer, along with Judge apparently, there was hushed discussion of them playing the big Alive & Well festival which ended the summer. That didn’t happen…oh well.
