Half Off-Who Writes Your Rules?
Half Off are a band I liked a lot when I got into hardcore, but has not held up very well. Their ideas are fine, but the implementation of them on the records is hit or miss. That said, their second demo, the one advertised in this ad, is probably their best material. I really prefer Haywire, the band most of Half Off would morph into later on. Check out their Private Hell album. Pretty raging stuff in the vein of Bl’ast!, Melvins, etc.

No Answers Fanzine
I’m not a huge fan of Kent McLard (see Hardware Fanzine and his comments in recent years about cats) but No Answers was a decent fanzine. Some of the later issues get pretty “emo” and grating, but a lot of people go through those kinds of phases. Kent did do some good interviews over the years for sure.

Underdog/Negazione
New Beginning Records was done by members of Half Off and people who I believe were associated with Youth Of Today. This ad is for the excellent Underdog ep they put out. It may be New Jersey bias, but Underdog have always been a favorite band of mine. If you like the rawer style Underdog has on here, check out their demos LP on Revelation; the tracks from this record came from the “True Blue” demo that is collected there…
Also advertised is the upcoming release (reissue?) of one of the Italian band Negazione’s early records. Alongside Raw Power, Negazione is my favorite Italian band. I’m not sure if their records are in print these days but they are probably not difficult to find.
